Visit to BMW Vehicle Repair Centre [sharing of experience on the use of High-Volume-Low-Pressure (HVLP) spray guns

• On 26th April 2006, the Business Facilitation Office of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) visited the vehicle repair centre of the BMW Concessionaires (HK) Limited in Shatin.

• Mr. W.L. Tang, Manager of the Centre, explained in details their experience in trying out and using high-volume-low-pressure spray guns in the past ten years. Mr. K.H. Ng of SATA, a supplier of high-volume-low-pressure spray guns, provided an update on the use of the environmentally friendly spray guns in Hong Kong.

• According to Mr. W.L. Tang, the use of environmentally friendly spray guns has helped to reduce paint consumptions, reduce costs, improve working environment and assure the well being of his colleagues. Apart from environmentally friendly spray guns, Mr. Tang also introduced to the visitors other pollution prevention equipment and safety measures at the Centre.

• Concerning personnel management, Mr. Tang disclosed the “people” concept of his company. The management, apart from availing employees a safe and hygienic working environment, also allowed staff rooms for development and creativity. In return, working efficiency was improved and staff have a stronger affiliation with the company.
